The Greatest Weight Loss Article Of All Time

Alright, so it may be a tiny exaggeration. And even if it wasn’t, my opinion may be slightly biased considering that I am the writer. And sure, using fun attention-getting titles is something I’m a big fan of doing. However, what I can say with absolute certainty is that “the greatest weight loss article of all time” is exactly what I set out to put together.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that this is the week when millions of people around the world make their New Year’s Resolutions. I also mentioned that the #1 resolution may very well be to lose weight.

I then mentioned something that probably sounded a bit strange… that you should not spend a second of your time doing anything weight loss related. Don’t research. Don’t learn. Don’t buy. Whatever you do, don’t go out and look for weight loss. My reason for this of course was that I was going to “bring weight loss to you.”

And now, as promised, I present to you (I’m also a huge fan of overly dramatic introductions)…

As for a brief description, I’ll let its first paragraph do the describing:

  1. whoever wrote this article I want to give them a huge hug… One, for being brutally honest, two not trying to sell any products just facts and three….you put it out there for free. Some one who honestly just wants to help people lose weight and not make a damn buck. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don’t ever comment to anything on the computer, infact I rarely ever use the computer at all but I felt that I had to comment to this page and thank the author.

  2. Great article. The comparison between smoking and junk food is pretty darn convincing for me. I find it a powerful convincing tool.
    Also I wish you would expand the article to include the importance of a high metabolic rate. As in, when you work out on a regular basis you have a higher metabolism that burns calories faster and throughout the day. Also how muscle is more expensive to build and maintain, compared to fat.

  4. The absolute best website for losing weight..I’m so angry about all the BS the weight loss industry is allowed to get away with and how they are allowed to exploit desperate people!!! Kudos to you..I have lost over 80lbs counting calories… I have forwarded this website to all my friends who need to lose weight and have paid big bucks to a bunch of lying thieves…ALL are SHOCKED that the ONLY way to lose wwight is to count calories…. and not subscribing to some convoluted money making scheme.

I have spent a bomb on slimming clubs onlt to be back to square one and have now joined a swimming pool and gym with my money instead in the hope th excercise will help more.   7. I made a resolutio on January 12th to get my a** in gear when the scale hit 303.6 pounds. I began by focusing on anti inflammatory foods and doing more vegetables and fruits. Then I call Horizon -my insurance carrier and asked for any free help they had to offer on Feb 26th…that’s when i started writing everything down. Then I found your calorie counter and today I read your whole article and took notes and wrapped my whole program up into what I know I should do and can do and be healthy and mobile for the rest of my life.
    I have lost 21 pounds in 10 weeks. Now, I have the most motivation and conviction I had lost for several years! Thank you so much. I will ignore everything else and keep my eye on the goal and say a prayer for you often.

  9. OMG! Who are you and where have you been ALL MY LIFE! I stumbled onto this website while doing some research on starting Nutrasystem. I was so close to throwing away hundreds of dollars on garbage for my husband and myself. I feel so liberated, I have done slim fast, low fat, atkins,cabbage soup, even weight watchers, why calculate points when calories in/out is so simple. Why cause what you said.. I paid for it.

  10. I can’t even begin to thank you enough!!! I have probably possibly tried every fad diet there is and always either give up or gain it all back! You not only made it simple but you gave me the tools to be sucessful. Who could of known it was so easy and that I have complete control of my outcome thats great news to a control freak like me. Last year I walked at least 4-5 times a week for at least 30-60 min. a day and took Solo Slim to loss nothing more than 7lbs (quite discouraging)with the end result being that after the holidays I had gain all 7lbs back and then some. I was mislead to believe that Weight loss is a magic pill or magic trick diet or whatever and was never once told I actually had control! Again thanks so much for your staight forward advice-no gimmicks weight loss guide!!! I started it two weeks ago and As of this morning I have LOST 4lbs-Thats Incredible!

  12. Well I am back again! Just an update to let everyone know that as of today (8 weeks later)I have lost a total of 10 lbs. and I am so excited about how well this works. I will stick to this because the results don’t lie and thats what keeps me motivated. I love having the control and knowing that if I do happen to go over my daily calories I can just do extra exercises to compensate for it. Thats Awesome-Your Awesome!!! Again Thank You So Much!!!

  15. Wow, I started writing down my own notes for what works and what doesn’t and came across your article….no need to continue my article….you already wrote it! I’ve lost 112 pounds following the main point of the article. My only critique would be to emphasize logging what you eat in a notebook. When you write it down, along with the calories that are associcated with what you eat, it makes you accountable. It’s right there in black and white. I think a lot of people just don’t account for everything they eat, and end up “lying” to themselves. The main point is that your body doesn’t lie.

  17. This is the only information you will ever need in order to lose weight. As an exercise physiologist, it’s always nice to see some truth out there in the mass of crap that everyone is always talking about. The only thing I say to be careful of is this, when you calculate your BMR, be sure to use and accurate height measurement and when you put your weight into the calculator use the bottom and top of the healthy weight range according to the BMI chart which I don’t even like but I digress. If you are overweight, for example a 200lb man at 5’8 and you put 200lbs into the calculator it is going to give you a calorie maintence level WAY higher than what you should be shooting for.

    I just want to recomend one thing to everyone. TRY TO EAT MORE FRUIT, you wont be any hungry during the day and you´ll feel really great and healthy. Just try to eat 500 cal. of fruit in one meal… haha it is going to be really difficult and delicious! (it is around 7-8 pieces of fruit)

  20. My husband and I decided to go on the South Beach diet. I bought the book and all of the food. It lasted 2 weeks. Have been searching the net for diet info and came across your article. When people asked me how, I said'” eat less, move more.” Exactly what I feel your article says, but people actually cursed me out for not sharing my “weight-loss secret” with them.   27. Simple and straight to the point – I love this. Being one of the guilty ‘fad’ dieters, I have always known to count calories but was always looking for an easy, quick result. Slimfast, Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Jillian Michaels, Tim Ferris and The South Beach Diet have all been rigidly adhered to and then catastrophically failed (now I have listed these I feel a fool for ignoring the good advice and going with the highly marketed, money making schemes). However, albeit the ‘slower’ option, I now have 1200 calories per day and do a cardio/strength workout 3 times a week, with cross country skiing (weather permitting)and yes, it is working. My clothes are looser and most importantly I am more relaxed. No more fixating on carbs or spending ridiculous amounts of money on speciality foods.
    So thank you for shaking me out of my diet coma and making me FINALLY admit that losing weight is a lifestyle change that will last forever – and I welcome it with open arms

I go from website to website, trying to get certain info I can use re carbs, fat, calories & the formulas-and have never really understood it all. This article makes it absolutely clear. Everything I have needed help with is here. I never write comments on things, good or bad, but just wanted to thank you for this article. Now I just have to figure out how to get my printer to work so I can print it. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! p.s. I have Diabetes, crohns among other things, so do have to watch carbs, but you have made it easier.

  30. Great article ! It certainly gets confusing finding good weight loss advice.What I’ve found is it’s usually biased towards selling their product. I think lately I am not losing weight because my daily caloric intake is being maintained. I will try dropping 500 calories a day and monitor my weight each week and see if this will drop some pounds. I hope more people read this article before getting totally ripped off by the scammy billion dollar weight loss Industry!
