a Calorie Counter just got way more awesome.

It has easily been the most popular feature request I’ve gotten, and it has been at the top of my to-do list since day 1. And now… it’s here.

The same insanely quick, clutter-free and all around perfectly usable awesomeness you’ve come to love about a Calorie Counter’s nutrition search engine is now equally in effect in the form of a completely free food and diet log.

Just sign up for an account (takes about 3 seconds) and you’re good to go.

Then, just start searching for foods like you always have, only now be sure to add them to your daily “My Foods” diet log. There, you’ll be able to adjust the serving sizes of foods after they’ve been added, add and edit your own custom foods, and browse through and edit your diet from previous days.

Basically, you will now have the ability to quickly and easily keep track of the daily totals of your entire diet (calories, protein, carbs, fat and much more) in what I like to think is a format approximately 80 trillion times better than every other crappy version around. Yes, 80 trillion.

So, stop reading this and go check it out already…

Create your free a Calorie Counter account right here.

And, be sure to let me know what you think in the comments below or via email. Like it? Hate it? Have any suggestions for additional features you’d like to see? Whatever feedback you’ve got, I want to hear it.

Later.

  1. YES! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is exactly the kind of functionality I was hoping would be done. Calorie Counter has been so helpful for me and now it’s just made it much easier for me to track what I consume.

    Awesome!

  2. Okay, having already started playing with the system, I LOVE the custom foods idea. That way, if I’ve got a simple meal that I often eat, I can go calculate the total calories for that meal and then save it as a custom. Great functionality.

  3. Grant: Awesome to hear you’re diggin’ it. And nice job on the custom food/meal idea. I was planning on eventually writing a little “how-to” in case it’s not all self explanatory enough, and that was actually one of the “tips” I would have thrown in there. Let me know if there is any other functionality you wish it had.

    Sean: HA, I agree completely.

  4. Hi!
I’m so glad you added this feature, it’s awesome.

The one drawback I’ve found (and this is true of other counters too) is a lack of ‘ethnic’ foods. No chicken curry, for example, so I substituted some cooked chicken and chicken gravy. But also no rice pilaf, which I think is pretty common?

I know that’s part of the point of the custom foods too, but I would love to see some additions to the data.

    Thanks again!

  5. Thanks for your hard work and 80 trillion times formatting it!… I just tried this out and it’s GREAT!!!!!

I also agree with Driver B, a little more ‘ethnic’ foods… but other than that..
    LOVE IT!

  6. Driver B & Nokie173: You’re welcome, glad it’s being liked. And yeah, getting additional foods into this database is definitely on my eventual to-do list along with a bunch of other stuff that will bring a Calorie Counter to unheard-of levels of awesome. 😉

  7. I think it is a wonderful tool. It would be even better if it allowed for a “master goal” template to be set up. You can then compare on a daily basis. In addition, the ability to post a note on each day would also be a great way to develop this great project.

  8. I love this feature! In the past I’ve tried to keep a food diary in a notebook, but I usually stop after a week or two. With this website, I can pretty much add, search or make changes no matter where I’m at, which makes it so easy to dedicate myself to trying to lose weight. I found this site on 1/4/09 and log on faithfully everyday and in about a week I’ve lost 6 pounds. Thank you so much for all the work you have put into this site. I’ve been telling all of my friends, family and co-workers about it.

  9. This website has helped me more than you can imagine! I have also tried keeping a food journal and I always quit because I get really busy. But this is very convenient.

  10. I found your site today and I love it!!!!!

I just started a “Biggest Loser” competition with my gym and we are required to keep a food journal.

The diet log is great and easy to use. Have you thought about adding a “Print” option? At the end of the day I would like to print what I entered without getting all of the “Extra Webpage” items. I also like the idea of being able to post a note that Vee had.

Thanks again for all of the wonderful information you provide on your website!!!!

  11. This is an absolutely fantastic, easy-to-use, feature! I love it. I’m always on the run and thrilled that the math is taken care of. Planning my meals couldn’t get easier than this. :-)Thanks a ton!

  12. I just found this last week. I love it! i’ve tried calorie counters on prevention.com and on the FDA’S mypyramid.com web sites. They both were slow and tedious. Inputting a new food was also VERY slow. I like how your site is clean and has no ads. And it’s so FAST! You must have fiOs 😉 Thanks! I’ll tell anyone who wants to calorie count about it. Already told my MIL.

  13. This is great!! I found this website just over
a week ago and I too have logged on faithfully
every day. I’ve lost 3 pounds. I just recently
got high speed internet at home and I am on
a computer most of the day at work, this is
sooooo easy!! Much easier than trying to keep
track of a notebook and guess at calories.
Thanks a bunch! My goal is 25lb and I will do it with the help of acaloriecounter.com

  14. What an absolutely great site. I just added it to a couple of websites that I host. Everyone loves the calorie counter and its so easy to use.
Thanks so much for all your hard work.

  15. I’m loving the food log – very excellent. The tallying and placing the totals in a nutrition label is so intuitive.

  16. What a surprise!! I hadn’t expected the Acalorie Counter food log to be so easy to use nor to provide so much information so easily gleened. You’ve done a top notch job! Many thanks.

  17. Yes, I really like your site. Other calorie counters don’t even slightly compare. This is the Rolls Royce of calorie counters. I love it.

I have much of my calorie info memorized. Your site reminds me that I have been wrong on a few things and to be more careful.

At the beginning I lost a lot of weight. It has slowed down and I need to replan my food.

    Thnaks again,

    very best regards,

    doug
